How to Spot RV Delamination Early, Before It Spreads Across the Wall

You are washing the coach on a Saturday and the reflection along the driver side wall does not run straight. It ripples, like the surface of a pond, right below the awning rail. Push on it with your palm and it gives a little, maybe a sixteenth of an inch, then springs back. Nothing is cracked. Nothing is leaking that you can find. But that wall did not look like that two summers ago, and the ripple is longer now than it was in the spring.
What you are feeling is the outer skin separating from what it was bonded to. RV sidewalls are built as a sandwich: gelcoated fiberglass outside, a thin luan plywood substrate behind it, block foam and aluminum or wood framing in the middle, and interior paneling on the back.
